A Fly on the Crystal, "Nena Daconte"

In November 2009 first wrote about Nena Daconte. A great duet Catalan blew my head in 2006 with his debut album I lost my shoes (2006), a collection of extraordinary songs without any waste, and with his second book, Scraps Carnival (2008) confirmed its quality, while your reputation, sales and fan base grew increasingly.

is why in 2010, fans waited anxiously the third production the singer-songwriter Mai Meneses, and his counterpart Kim Fanlo. However, like a bucket of cold water came the news of the separation of the duet, while Mai continue using the name of the duet, a situation against which Fanlo Kim openly stated in a statement, adding that he had decided to dissolve Mai association. Later, he announced the bad name of the new album, A Fly on the Crystal . After the first single, "No overnight guests you" gave me a very bad feeling, and the HORRIBLE cover.

Although not a bad theme, it shows the difference in quality too much without the music that brought Fanlo, and while some points are level with the other albums ("No Invites You to Sleep", "Ask," Do not you notice me "" The Hawk That Lives In My Head "," wait, and theme in English, "I Just Call You Girl"), the absence of organic sound in part pop, jazz and blues original Nena was surprised too.

Moreover, there are songs whose inclusion seems inexplicable, as is the case of "Are Children" where Mai gets social and talks about street children and child workers, and the terrible, corny, ridiculous, stupid " Tan Happy, "which would be rejected even in the program Barney the dinosaur. The rest of the 13 songs have a long, look like works of a girl who just started writing, and although some seem to paint for more, end up not meeting or fall within the repetition, feeling enhanced by a production that also feels inexperienced asbusando of the drum machine and electric guitars out of place.

Taking into account the two previous albums were not wasted, and that this production only three issues are comparable ("The Hawk That Lives In My Head", "wait, and" I Just Call You Girl "- curiously, the one that is completely acoustic) I can not but agree that this record should be signed only by Mai, and not as Nena Daconte. I hope she reconsiders, Nena Daconte was an extraordinary duet, and this album is far from it.
